Rubber latex refers to polymer particles that dispersed in water to form colloidal emulsion. Generally, the rubber particles aqueous dispersion we called latex; and resin particles aqueous dispersion known as emulsion. Latex products, such as sponges, gloves, toys, hose, condom etc., are widely used in daily life. And there are 3 categories of rubber latex, natural latex, synthetic latex, and artificial latex.

Natural latex is tapping out from the rubber tree. It is white. The solid content is 30% to 40%, and the average rubber particle size is 1.06μm. The fresh natural latex composition containing 27% ~ 41.3% (mass) rubber, 44% ~ 70% water, 0.2% ~ 4.5% protein, 2% ~ 5% natural resin, 0.36% ~ 4.2% sugar, 0.4% ash. In order to prevent the natural rubber latex coagulating due to micro-organisms, and enzymes, it often adds ammonia and other stabilizers. In order to facilitate the transport and processing, natural rubber latex using methods such as centrifugation or evaporation, concentrated to 60% solid content, known as concentrated latex. Natural latex mainly used in foam products, and pressure impregnated products.

Synthetic latex can be obtained through emulsion polymerization and make the solid content steady in 20% to 30% (e.g., polybutadiene latex, SBR latex, etc.). To enable the solid content of 40% ~ 70%, first of all, so that agglomeration of rubber particles into larger particles, that is mainly used in industry to adjust polymer formula, add the agglomerating agent, mixing, compression, refrigeration and other measures, and then used The method is similar to natural rubber latex concentrate. Synthetic latex mainly used in carpet, paper, textiles, printing, coatings and adhesives and other industrial sectors.

Artificial latex is non-latex synthetic rubber latex emulsion. Add water and surfactant to the glue solution of solution polymerization (such as isoamyl rubber), so that rubber particles dispersed in water, and then evaporate the solvent. Artificial latex can also used in carpet, paper, textiles, printing, coatings and adhesives and other industrial sectors.
