Latex in a Box
Just a quick post as I was playing with a new photography prop and thought I’d share a smexy little latex outfit with ‘yall’ (as Eloise would say).
This is the June Latex ensemble in black from Nova, conveniently located at the Dominion Fetish Shoppes. The boots are one of my favourite pairs (and are guaranteed to get the boys all in a tizz) from Shi Sexy Fashion Shop. My hair is ‘Monica’ from Truth. And for any photographers out there, I’m posing in the ‘PolyWall’ from Diesel Works, which comes with some fantastic poses and textures.

German Fetish Ball moves to Hamburg
by Anita Tsia on Jan.07, 2010, under Fashion Show
The flyer for the 2010 German Fetish Ball states “Bye Bye Berlin Hello Hamburg”, clearly indicating that after six years the event moves to another place. The exact days are May 13-16 2010.
There were several reasons that lead the organizers to this decision. To quote them:
“First of all GFB was colliding with Wave Gothic Treffen in Leipzig, a huge Goth festival and there are companies and guests that feel at home in both scenes. All of them had to decide each year where to go and what to do. This wasn’t good and we would love to offer everyone the chance to attend both events. Unfortunately there is no way to have the huge Matrix along with the Narva and M Lounge on a regular Saturday. So moving the date meant moving the venue too. This is why we decided to move to Germany’s 2nd biggest town. Hamburg is not only a great port town with a huge nightlife, but also birthplace of the German bdsm and fetish scene and the true kink capital. 2 BDSM bars, one Burlesque Bar, a huge BDSM and Fetish party venue, lots of munches, groups, studios, parties… it is the must see place when it is about kink. So the decision for Hamburg was easy, as it offers more kinky stuff then Berlin and the city is as great for tourists. Plus the change now allows us to have one hotel for most of our guests. In Hamburg we already have a hotel that can accommodate 500 fetish and bdsm people next to the venues. And the Himmelfahrt day (Ascension day) on Thursday is a holiday in most European countries, so we can now party from Wednesday night to Sunday afternoon, five days of fetish fun and lots of more guests to come.”
The move to Hamburg is already awaking high expectations and so the organizers are determined to make the great GFB Weekend even better. There is no better way to check if they keep their word then going to Hamburg,2010.
Beyoncé in Mugler
by Anita Tsia on Jan.06, 2010, under Fashion Show
The Metropolitan Musem of Art in New York had a very nice exhibition in the year2008 about the fashions of Super Heroes and how they have inspired the fashion scene. Among the featured items there was Thierry Mugler’s famous sexy robot suit, a full body shell out of metal and transparent plastic, that transforms the wearer into a sort of living robot. Some of Mugler’s other designs were shown as well, most of which have a lot of fetish influence.
When Beyoncé Knowles saw those items, she approached Mugler to design the outfits for her new “I am …” world tour. The result is very interesting, maybe not latex, but certainly very fetish inspired.
And apparently Beyoncé couldn’t resist the temptation to get into that sexy robot suit herself. Well, who could.
. Unlike everybody else however, she actually had the chance to become that chrome plated robot and Thierry Mugler even modified it slightly for her. Robot-Beyonce appears in a videoclip on a big screen during the concert. I guess that alone should be worth buying a ticket.
I Kissed A Girl in the Red Dress
by Anita Tsia on Jan.05, 2010, under Fashion Show, Women
Amber Moelter still loves latex. Her turn in a catsuit for the short film Catwoman: Resolution caught the attention of fetish fans in 2007, and her YouTube mash-up of Katy Perry’s I Kissed A Girl proves that she still gets a kick out of wearing a sexy latex outfit. “I could live in this red dress all day.” she laughs.
For Amber, the reactions the dress gets from other people is key to its appeal. “When I’m that character in front of the cameras I feel an amazing empowerment,” she says. “In between shots I actually forget I’m wearing it, but when someone new sees it I’m reminded of its subversiveness. The reaction that the dress garners is part of what makes it a turn on to wear.”
“Latex is like the sexiest woman you know,” she jokes. “No matter the situation, you can’t take your eyes off her. You cannot help but slip away to the dark parts of your mind and think about what you could do with her.”
Brüno
by Anita Tsia on Jan.04, 2010, under Fashion Show, Men
Sacha Baron Cohen wears latex in his new movie Brüno as Austrian gay fashionista.
Can you imagine Borat, the guy from Kazachstan in latex? Probably rather not. On the other hand it’s not surprising that into the wardrobe of Brüno, rubber perfectly fits in. And still it’s the same Sasha Baron Cohen, who introduces his another character in his new crazy movie called as the main character Brüno.
The movie is about Austrian Brüno, following the gay TV fashion magazine host as he sets out to become “the biggest Austrian superstar since Hitler”. Looking for a new path in his career, he decides to become a celebrity in the United States and moves to Los Angeles.
Kinky scenes in the movie:
- At the start of the movie Brüno features his show Funkyzeit in a stylish transparent PVC suit with black trimming
- Brüno and his assistant Lutz. They have a spark, and they wake up the next morning in S&M outfits, cuffed to each other, in the hotel room.
- Brüno doesn’t want to have sex with a woman in a swingers club, so she keeps whipping him with a belt until he falls through a window and runs away.
- Brüno is obviously gay, and is in a satisfying relationship with his small Asian boyfriend (Clifford Banagale). For their carnal pleasure they have a set of colorful latex costumes. The outfits were created by Syren CoutureLatex, their head designer Jeffrey Gent.
“The outfit I created consists of a pair of custom-designed latex short shorts with studded codpiece and rear zipper as well as a matching top with buckling collar and short cropped sleeves,” says Gent. “I made a similar outfit in metallic green for his partner that also has the interesting detail of nipple zippers and pants with all round zipper. It is not everyday that I’m asked to make something that is deliberately tacky and over the top!”
The movie is worth to see not only for those scenes tough. If you can accept Cohen’s way of humour, he will entertain you, while disclosing a lot of prejudice, intolerance and most of all stupidity in the people around.
Latex but not latex
by Anita Tsia on Jan.03, 2010, under Fashion Types
Latex fashion may get more mainstream, but the media is more often than not mistaking when giving the latex attribute to a garment. For the past year or so in publications such as newspapers, magazines or the internet, you often see a title blur out “X wears latex“, where X is replaced by the name of a hip celebrity. However, on closer investigation, it turns out that more than half the time… it’s not latex at all! As soon as the garment in question (a legging, most of the time) has even a hint of shine on it, it automatically is labeled “latex”.
The question has to be asked: are these reporters misinformed, ignorant or just after a catchy headline? Because latex has appeared in the press more and more over the past few years, it’s become a hit word. The general line of thinking seems to point to: if you want to catch the eye of the reader, use “latex” in the title of your article. Does the catchy headline win the game for these authors? Not entirely. Latex fashion affectionates and fetishists have a tendency to rebuke such false claims, seeing these headlines as misleading. Further more, they feel it contributes to mal-informing people about the nature of latex clothing.
For most people (not active in the fetish scene) the word latex has a strong connotation with “kinky”. So these article headlines lead people to beleive that if the clothes look kinky (i.e. tight and shiny), it must be latex! This is far from the truth. In fact, most often than not we see all kinds of shiny materials other than latex appearing in these allegadly “latex articles”: leather, pleather, vinyl, PVC, spandex… So, if you see an article labeled “latex”, take a closer look just to be sure! One article even mistake a wetcuit for a latex catsuit (neoprene is a synthetic rubber). In the original article, the wetsuit that Paris Hilton is wearing on a diving break is labeled “latex”. Of course technically you could make a diving suit out of latex, I don’t see why not, but this certainly isn’t one of those! On the other hand, when Paris does wear latex (the real stuff) it’s not always picked up correctly. In this article of Paris hosting the opening of the Pussycat Dolls lounge in LA, the dress is mistakenly identified as leather… (more on this opening event in our previous page). This just goes to show most journalists don’t really pay attention (or don’t care?) to the origin of the clothes these celebrities are wearing. Then why do they insist on labeling the clothes? The pictures below all came from articles where the clothes were wrongly labeled ‘latex’.

Sophie Serafino, a violinist, singer and composer from Australia is known for her unique music and also for very positive attitude to latex.
As you can see from her photos and videos she wears latex quite often. With her music and image the latex fashion goes very well. She has a nice figure and perfect face; she wouldn’t be lost as a fetish model either. Just see yourself.
